Sunderland won over Carlisle 3:1 at home on Sunday evening and progressed to the next stage of FA Cup, but will now look to make a major upset as they host Manchester United and make a strong step to the finals of Capital One Cup and a game at Wembley Stadium.
Their victory was completely deserved, but only sealed with a third goal in the last moments of the game. Still, the team used this victory to improve the morale a bit, as they are coming from a previously lost game at home against Aston Villa. Even so, the atmosphere in the locker isn’t the best one, as the team still sits at the last position in Premier League with only fourteen points earned, which is four points less than teams on safe position. Black Cats will have only two missing players for tonight’s game, as they miss out central defender Cuellar (3/0) and goalkeeper Westwood (10/0) already for few weeks. O’Shea has recovered from shoulder injury and is expected to partner Brown at the back of the home defense.
Manchester United on the other side, lost at home to Swansea with the score of 1:2 and made another negative surprise to all of their fans. Being kicked out of the FA Cup, this game and this competition remains as one of the bright spots for the team and surely, a great chance to bring some joy to their fans in less than average season for them for now.
It was their second consecutive defeat, as the Red Devils were also defeated in the previous Premier League game when they welcomed Tottenham and lost it with a 1:2 result. These two results broke a positive run of six victories of them in all competitions and once again proved that the things aren’t the same without their legendary coach Ferguson. They will also have a number of injury worries in front of the clash, as they continue to miss out van Persie (11/7), Fellaini (8/0), Ferdinand (7/0), Young (10/1), Jones (13/0) and Nani (8/0) who are all sidelined injured, while Wayne Rooney (17/9) is a doubt and may not be risked. Right defender Fabio (1/0) is suspended after receiving a red card against Swansea.
Manchester United has won last six matches against Sunderland.
Visitors from Manchester have one of rare chances to do something memorable in this season and get the Capital One Cup. Even with several players out, they still have the quality to win in ninety minutes against a side that surely has much more things to worry about in Premier League. Bet Manchester United win.
